Ben Aaronovitch : Stone and Sky (Rivers of London Series)

Due to a message that Dr. Walid got from a friend in Scotland, the characters go on vacation in Scotland (Aberdeenshire), trying to figure out the reason why something is killing sheep and leaving their insides spreaded out near the carcass. Basically that‘s the reason why the story is not situated in London this time.

However, it‘s not just Thomas Nightingale, Peter Grant and Dr. Walid. Abigail Kamara, now being an adult apprentice goes as well, accompanied by the fox Indigo. As Peter was supposed to be on vacation, his wife Beverly Brook and their twins Taiwo and Kehinde go as well. Peter Grant‘s mom insisted on joining them for babysitting. Peter‘s dad plus their band „Lord Grant‘s Irregulars“ and their manager Zachary Palmer join as well.

Without spoiling the actual case (too much) and the story, I like that we get new characters, learn what happened to Abigail‘s brother Paul, and get a lesbian love story.

The book works for me and fits nicely into the series canon. It‘s an easy read, even for a non-native speaker like me, and I really don‘t regret having again bought the hardcover this time around. It was worth it.
