'Jin-An, Park Ji-Hyun, Park Hye-Jin included' FA market full of big fish

The free agency market is about to get big.

The Korean Women's Basketball League (WKBL) announced on Wednesday that it has finalized the 20 free agents for the 2024 WKBL.

There are five first-year free agents who can exercise their first free agency rights after their debut. They include Samsung Life Shin-isul, Shinhan Bank Lee Hye-mi, Woori Bank Park Ji-hyun, Na Yoon-jung, and Hana OneQ Kim Dan-ah. The players will first negotiate with their original clubs during the first negotiation period, and if the negotiations are unsuccessful, they will begin negotiating with other clubs during the second negotiation period.

The secondary free agents, who can negotiate with all clubs, including their original clubs, from the first free agency period, are Samsung Life Kim Dan-bi, Kim Han-bi, Park Hye-mi, Shinhan Bank Kim Sonia, Kim Ah-reum, and Lee Hae-eun, Woori Bank Park Hye-jin, Choi Yi-sam, Hana OneQ Kim Sion, Yang In-young, BNK Thumb Kim Han-byul, Ahn Hye-ji, Jin-an, KB Stars Shim Sung-young, and Yum Yoon-ah.

The free agency negotiation period, which was shortened from 30 days to 20 days from this year, will be divided into three periods. The first negotiation period is from May 5 to 14 at 17:00, the day after the awards ceremony, and the second negotiation period is from May 15 to 19 at 17:00. Players who are unable to sign a contract during the first and second negotiation periods will have a third negotiation period with their original clubs from 20th to 22nd at 17:00.

If a free agent transfers to another club, the original club can choose either one compensation player (excluding protected players) or cash compensation in accordance with the WKBL FA Rules. The amount of compensation depends on the player's contribution in the current year and the previous year.
