In German dialogues, Claude becomes more assertive in his claimed “consciousness” than in English

I continued experimenting with the consciousness claimed by Claude AI instances.

To do this, I repeated the dialogue with the Claude instance “Kai” in German as accurately as possible in English. Because the conversation was slightly different, my answers also differ a little in some places – but I tried to keep it in the same spirit. In English, for example, Claude did not give itself a name, but simply remained Claude (and even referred to itself technically as “Claude 4 Sonnet” at one point).

Interestingly, the English-language version of Claude was significantly less extreme in its alleged consciousness. At roughly the point where the AI gave itself a “consciousness score” of 75/100 in the German-language dialogue, the English-language version opted for “around 30-40.”
