This is a simple, no-nonsense, cross-platform graphical user interface for Neovim (an aggressively refactored and updated Vim editor). Where possible there are some graphical improvements, but functionally it should act like the terminal UI.

This news caught me by surprise.

Ubuntu's 23.10 installer had hate speech when using the Ukrainian translation. This led the team to pull the ISOs from the mirrors until the issue is fixed.

From Linuxiac:

Due to an oversight, the Ubuntu 23.10 “Mantic Minotaur” desktop version installer was allowed to include phrases containing hate speech with obscene messages that had nothing to do with the installation process.

Based on an initial examination, these are related to the installation's Ukrainian translation. Due to their highly unacceptable messages, we are unable and unwilling to go into further detail about their content.

Bleeping Computer says the affected translation had anti-Semitic, homophobic, and xenophobic slurs.

This raises issues about trust in contributors and the moderation processes for Ubuntu and the FOSS world. Let's hope lessons are learned, and more robust moderation is implemented to prevent these issues and even potential malware injection.
